A Message from Our president

I wear a mask…

...that covers my mouth and nose. I do this with respect for you!

First, there was the pandemic. Now, with the fires and bad air quality, I wear a N95 mask for my own health. As time goes on and restrictions relax, many more of us are out and about trying to find some kind of normalcy in difficult times. My sense is that many people have become weary of the constraints. However, reflecting on what motivates us to take action can be grounding. Seeking awareness in “the why” helps me keep going. I wear a mask to protect myself. And...I wear a mask to protect others.

Like so many, I also want to spend time with family and friends, travel, and host programs and events in person. Unfortunately it isn’t yet time to let down protections. Putting others at risk is neither responsible nor helpful. What are you doing to help the situation and those around you? What support do you need to keep going? Please find people to support you and take actions that help keep yourself and those you love safe!

On a final note, don’t forget to get those smeyes on! In tough times, smiling eyes can go a long way to bring a smile to your face under that mask while giving another person some care.

Deanna Stouder
SFBAC President 2020
