President’s Message


As we step into Fall and enter the last quarter of 2016, it is once again my honor to acknowledge the incredible coaches who make up our SFBAC Board, to welcome new members, say “Thank you, job well done” to those that are stepping down from the board, and to put out a call for new members to join us. These coaches devote time, energy, creativity, resources and so much love towards fulfilling our mission: to create opportunities for our membership of professional coaches to build connection, creativity, competency and commerce.


I would like to acknowledge the board members who have already, or are going to be, retiring their positions at the end of the year:


        Kimberley Elliott - Marketing Director

        Dana Cole - Treasurer

        Jose-Antonio Villalobos - Membership

        Tina Ambrosini - Events Director


I would like to acknowledge current board members who are moving into new positions and want to thank them for their efforts in mentoring each other during the handoff to ensure a smooth transition:


        Janet Fjeldstad - Vice-President to Co-Secretary/Operations

        Florian Brody - Communications Director to Vice-President

        Ray Pifferrer - Membership Director to Treasurer

        Sophie Leroi - Public Relations to Communications Director

        Sahar Azarabadi - Sponsorships to Membership Director

        Barbara Koeth - ICF Liaison to Schools & Programs Liaison


And lastly, I would like to acknowledge our board members who are maintaining their current roles within the board.

        Joie Seldon - Volunteer Coordinator (and still very active in Membership)


Since we’re in the change business, we know that this is an opportunity. The space created by these people moving on to their highest good gives other members a platform to spark the space with their own energy and ideas for building SFBAC into an ever more vibrant, relevant, and cutting-edge organization for Bay Area coaches. It also gives us the chance to clarify our “ask:” we are specifically looking for SFBAC Members/Affiliates who have skills and interests in the following areas:

  • Marketing Director - Member of the MarCom Team. Leading the Marketing Committee (when in session), whose purpose is to set the strategic direction based on clearly understanding the needs of our target market, and then to provide specific guidance and recommendations to the Board and other committees.

  • Public Relations - Member of the MarCom Team. Working with local media to raise public awareness of the benefits of coaching.  Responding to requests from the media and research organizations (if needed)

  • Web Content Manager - Member of the MarCom Team. Now that we will be moving away from a newsletter format and more blogging and member contribution to the content, we will need someone to review, edit and approve. Working very closely with Communications, Marketing and Social Media.

  • Business Development - Member of the MarCom Team. Working with local media to raise public awareness of the benefits of coaching.  Securing and maintaining relationships with existing and potential sponsors and advertisers.Interacting with the community and businesses who provide services/products to the coaching community. We need their sponsorship dollars to help pay for speakers!

  • Events Director - Creating, developing, and coordinating opportunities & coaches to provide coaching opportunities with to Bay Area non-profits, business conferences and conventions.

  • Events Coordinator - working closely with the Events Coordinator to help with lining up volunteers for each event. Support already existing relationship with local major conferences. The groundwork has been done. Be the contact person and communicate dates and opportunities to members.

  • IT Specialist - We desperately would like someone to help us manage our technical needs & training of new members within the board & chapter!

As a coach you know how important it is how you show up in the world. For your coaching business, branding is the way your business is perceived.


Get support, ideas, and expert information on branding and marketing for yourself and your coaching practice.  Engage with experts in the areas of brand strategy, content creation, target marketing, social media, visual imaging, and more!


Start with networking to get to know your peers and colleagues. Then get hands-on experience with marketing solutions, and brainstorm with local experts on your individual needs for your business.


Experts in a wide area of marketing and communications expertise will be available to answer your questions. A photographer will be available to take head-shots and a videographer to practice presenting yourself in front of a camera and to record a brief pitch of your business. Bring along a 30 – 60 second pitch for your business, or develop it on site.

Our Monthly SFBAC meetings

The ICF San Francisco Bay Area Chapter meets monthly at the Impact Hub San Francisco: 925 Mission St., San Francisco, CA 94103. The first meeting in the quarter is a networking event, the other two are professional talks or presentations that you can also attend through live streaming, which also qualify you to earn CCEUs for continuing education.

The Chapter Website Is Getting Re-Designed


We are redesigning our website for a fresher and more interactive feel. We always welcome our members to participate and contribute, and we would like to request your input or feedback.
