Deep and lasting happiness requires something that many people are unwilling to do: Hard work. Discomfort. And yet, there is a way to practice discomfort and hard work that can actually be enjoyable, light, and fulfilling. It is to shift your perspective about risk, the possibility of "failure." When you remember that you are completely, truly secure, and will always be taken care of, you come to see that the present risks in front of you are just part of an adventure.   —George Kao on hard work

President’s Message

The Power of “We:” Creating The Catalyst For Change

I would like to acknowledge the incredible team of coaches who have been serving as the board for SFBAC. The year 2015 has been a very challenging year in managing change and growth for our chapter, our board, and for ourselves. Many of our committee directors have been serving unfailingly for two to three years to make sure we always have wonderful programs, fluid communication, and technology that works. And now it is time to say thank you for a job well done and formally acknowledge board members and key volunteers who have already moved on, or are going to be retiring their positions:

Gail Whipple –Communications Director

Leigh Doherty – Communications

Joie Seldon – Membership Co-Director

David Lund – Treasurer

Malika Malika – Business Development

Since we’re in the change business, we know that this is an opportunity. The space created by these people moving on to their highest good gives other members a platform to spark the space with their own energy and ideas for building SFBAC into an ever more vibrant, relevant, and cutting-edge organization for Bay Area coaches. It also gives us the chance to clarify our “ask:” we are specifically calling for SFBAC Members/Affiliates who have skills/interests in the following areas:

  • Communications/Marketing (e.g. copywriting, newsletter execution, design/layout/graphics, HTML, social media management, outreach)
  • Membership (e.g. member engagement, cultivation, community-building, retention, connection)
  • Events (e.g. creative event ideation, event planning and event execution)
  • Liaisons to Coaching Schools (to maintain connection and flow of information and ideas)
  • Regional Liaisons - North Bay, East Bay, South Bay (to build local community)

Whether you are curious, interested, or ready to jump in and get involved, please send an email to leadership@sfbayareacoaches.org. We would love to hear from you if you have time and interest in contributing to supporting our growing chapter in the coming year—even if you are not sure exactly what that might look like!!

—Ricci Victorio

How To Authentically Market Your Coaching Business: A Complete Planfor Growing

Your Ideal Audience

 - with George Kao

Many of us are inundated (and repulsed) by marketing that is disingenuous, salesy, even manipulative.  In fact, this is too often what is taught to us by business "gurus" and our own marketing coaches.  In this session, we’ll clarify our understanding of authentic and honorable marketing, so that we can truly enjoy and be proud of our outreach activities.

  • Get a complete overview of the major areas of an authentic marketing system, including CONTENT (Building Your Tribe) and ENROLLMENT (Gaining New Clients).
  • Learn an ongoing plan for marketing a coaching business.
  • Ask questions of George, who has been using this authenticity-based approach successfully for years!

George Kao has been a business and marketing coach for seven years full-time.  In the past two years he has conducted over 1,000 one-to-one business coaching sessions with clients. His focus is on Authentic Marketing (how to gain new clients an honorable way) and Joyful Productivity (how to have fun everyday in building your business).  Aiming to be a public servant, he now loves giving away all his knowledge for free, through his website and social media channels.  In the past 6 months he has created over 100 business tip videos and blog posts!  Connect with George Kao at www.GeorgeKao.com: Joyful Productivity, True Livelihood, Compassionate Marketing

The Leadership Circle offers Profile Certification

Leadership Circle Profile Certification: San Francisco Nov. 18-20, 2015

Grow your practice - take coaching deeper. Master three breakthrough assessments that will add velocity to your client's leadership effectiveness: Leadership Circle Profile 360 ™ (LCP), Manager Edition™ 360, and  Leadership Culture Survey™ for teams and entire organizations.

Only LCP measures leadership competencies (what's going on) and reactive

behaviors (why it's happening). That's why leading organizations, consultants/coaches, and top universities consider our assessments their "strategic advantage".

Take a Free Test Drive Demo - Register for Certification

The Leadership Circle Profile is:
  • More Revealing–It's the only 360 linking leadership competencies to core beliefs governing behavior.
  • More Advanced–Instantly reveals key opportunities for your executive’s development. No reams of documentation. Enables coaching to start at a breakthrough rather than require months trying to reach one.
  • More Than Just an Assessment–Rich theoretical underpinnings of LCP provide pathways to transformation.
  • More Efficient–It's easy to use. Allows a coach to meet leaders “where they are” without spending valuable coaching time finding out where that is.

"After nearly 1000 coaching sessions with many instruments, LCP has led to the best 1-on-1 coaching sessions I have EVER experienced! It goes beyond feedback on behaviors and competencies (which it includes) to the source: core beliefs and assumptions out of which those behaviors live." David Womeldorff, author, coach, Former Consulting Director of Bank One Corporation’s Learning and Leadership Development.
