Coming off yet another wonderful monthly gathering, it’s so incredibly clear to us that when we have a resonant speaker, the enthusiasm within our membership goes up exponentially. We are sure that there are powerful and inspiring speakers within our membership, or ones you know and would like to recommend? Our roster for this year is almost full, and we’re trying to keep the excitement thriving well into 2016!
Having said that, we feel both honored and excited to welcome our next speaker, John Kinyon who will talk about “The Power of Conflict” on May 13th. Please register ASAP for this upcoming event, and put it on your calendar as something you won’t want to miss!
International coaching week is also taking place in May from the 18th until the 24th. There is still room for you to participate in spreading the word and knowledge of coaching with all other chapters of ICF-Global.
We are also excited to see how many of you have registered to meet with the ICF-Global Board in June when they convene in San Francisco for their scheduled meeting. At this point the event is full to capacity, but we’re very much looking forward to meeting so many of you whom we might not already know!

Important Changes in Membership
In early 2015, our parent organization, the International Coaching Federation (ICF) made changes to membership policies which in turn can affect SFBAC members. Basically, ICF now requires that local chapter members also be members of Global ICF. ICF Global’s rationale for their change: “This policy change will help advance the reach of professional coaching worldwide by further strengthening ICF’s already-vibrant global community, and will align the membership requirements of local chapters with ICF Global’s membership requirements.”
SFBAC has met this organizational challenge in the following way: If a person is not interested in ICF Global membership, but wishes to be part of SFBAC, we offer an Affiliate relationship. Positive Acorn is thrilled to announce our flagship program—Applied Positive Psychology to be held this July 8-10 in Portland, Oregon (USA).
As we have done in years past we limit the number of participants and host a skills-based workshop in Portland’s unique Pearl District for 3 full days of learning and fun.This program will be personally led by Dr. Robert Biswas-Diener and can be used for ICF continuing education credits or for basic coach training credits.

Calling All Coaches: International Coaching Week is Coming
May 18-24 2015 is ICW and we’re building on our great success last year, offering coaching at SCORE, at Marin and doing renegade coaching in Union Square. Fill out this google form or contact Tina Ambrosini (email@example.com) for more deets - slots fill quickly for these popular events. Here’s the proposed schedule so far:
Tuesday May 19th: Speed Coaching at the Hub Spot
- Need 8-12+ volunteer coaches
- Time tentative: 9am-4:30pm
- Please let me know what times you are available and how long you are willing to coach for that day - flexibility helps!
Wednesday, May 20th: Coaching & Mentoring w/ SF SCORE
- All volunteer opportunities have been filled!
Wednesday, May 20th and Thursday, May 21: Mini-Coaching Sessions @ Marin County Employee Career Day
- Career coach and Trainer, Madelyn Mackie, is coordinating a group of 10-15 career coaches to provided 25 minute mini-coaching sessions at the Marin County Employee Career Days May 20 and May 21, 11:30AM - 4:00PM.
- Each coach will have an opportunity to coach 4-6 employees. Feel free to bring your marketing materials, newsletter sign-ups, and business cards. Small stipends available approximately $75-$100. Final amount will be dependent on the number of coaches participating in the event.
