Dear Members and Friends,

Newala - Trung Thu – Heurigen – Thesmosphoria - Ch'usok…..

These are but a few of the wonderfully curious names given in other cultures to celebrations of the Harvest season.  As we turn our attention to local celebrations, traditions and seasonal transitions, I was curious to notice what the many worldwide observations of Harvest might have in common:

Abundance.  Aliveness.  Community.  

Certainly!  Easy to embrace as a rich and useful metaphor for clients and our own growth as coaches.  Endless opportunities to plant, nurture and harvest in service of whatever is being wanted.

Additionally, every activity and program our Chapter designs and produces serves as the planting or nurturing opportunity to all members.  We are able to create a life of harvest year-round, and I celebrate with you in this.

If you know of a quiet, inexpensive meeting space with reliable Internet connection and a fairly large video screen (with good sound), or you can provide such an environment in your home and would be willing to host an RSVP, please contact your Regional Liaison!

Monthly Gathering

Sales Mastery: Overcoming Objections

Most of us have an aversion to sales.  Perhaps we fear the rejection.  Perhaps we want to cling on to the hope that the prospect might still lead to a sale and the hope is better than the absolute no.  Perhaps it is just better to wait for the phone to ring.  Perhaps we are not really clear about what it is that we offer.

Linda Welch generally has 20-30 sales calls a week.  She works with high six and seven figure coaching business owners to fill their coaching programs. She has sold everything from $197 information products to $80,000 custom coaching packages and has sold over a million dollars of coaching programs in the last year.

She has been in sales for over 20 years but Linda is not a natural.  She wasn’t always good at sales. Almost two years ago she had a revelation and now has a mind frame for success. She will share that with us as well as help us learn ways to overcome the objections we face the most – both from the prospective client and inside ourselves.  
 
Come to the September meeting with your questions and a list of the objections you face the most.  Whether it is, “too expensive” or “no money” or “no time”.  Or perhaps you hear, “I have to ask my husband….” Or you need corporate approval…  Or for yourself – “I love the work I do with my clients but I don’t like selling.” Linda will work with us to find out what is really going on and how to address these issues and concerns.  This is definitely a meeting not to miss!!!

Welcome New Board Member: Andy Elkind!


We are pleased to announce the appointment to the Board of Andy Elkind as Business Development Director.  Andy is co-founder of the Elkind Group, based in San Francisco and a great addition to the team.  You can learn more about Andy here!

The role of the Business Development Director is a relatively new one and has a great deal of exciting potential. Here are the key responsibilities:
•  Forms alliances with like-minded professional associations for mutual benefit and marketing opportunities
•  Promotes SFBAC Group Affiliate membership to organizations that have in-house coaches
•  Markets to prospective clients and organizations who are interested in hiring coaches and speakers to connect with our members
•  Responds to inquiries from businesses
•  Works with marketing to increase public awareness of the benefits of partnering with a professional coach
•  Leads advocate efforts for the coaching profession in the San Francisco Bay Area
•  Responds to and coordinates opportunities for trade show participation

Learning Never Ends!


Are you all done with summer vacations and renewal or are you just packing up for your big trip? No matter where you are on the summer timeline, the fall season is just around the corner. And with fall comes "Back to School" energy. What fond images do you have about this time of year? The smell of freshly sharpened pencils, the feeling of brand new sneakers, or the nervous excitement of meeting your new teacher?

If you've not been able to attend all of the recent meetings of our chapter, but you'd like to get back to some new learning, we invite you to set aside some time in your calendar now to revisit those presentations which originally caught your eye. One of the great benefits of membership in ICF SFBAC is the ability to view the video or listen to the audio of past presentations – just go into the member's only "Resources" section on our website! It's super easy and you get to do it from the comfort of your desk (or living room couch)!  Here are the step by step instructions:

1) Go to  http://www.sfbayareacoaches.org and use the Member Login link (upper right) to get signed in.

2) Hover your cursor over "Resources" in the tool bar, and then click on "Past Events."

3) From the Past Events page, click the link to access either 2013 E
vents or 2012 Events.

4) Under that year's listed events click on the link that gives the date and title of the presentation you'd like to see/listen to.

5) On the presentation description page click the link at the top that says Click here to see a video recording (or hear an audio recording.)

ICF Update!

President’s Message: Breaking Boundaries
 
At the end of June, I had the opportunity to participate in the ICF Midwest Regional Conference held in Minneapolis. It focused on "Breaking Boundaries, Imagine, Inspire, Impact." Participants were invited to look at our lives and explore what boundaries we need to break to maximize our potential and make a meaningful contribution to our communities. I liked the invitation so much that now I want to ask you: "What are the boundaries you need to break to have a life you love and a successful coaching practice?"
 
Did you know that we are seeing unprecedented growth and development in the coaching industry?  It is the best time ever to be in the coaching profession. Yet, we know this growth does not necessarily equate to our own experiences on a day-to-day basis. It can still be challenging to get new clients when we don´t have all the tools we need or when the economy in our own home country is not thriving.
In these moments, we may seek support from "the ICF tribe." We are all in this together. Do you need to break any boundaries to reach out to your ICF colleagues to share your needs and challenges? We are powerful together and can truly affect the planet in so many positive ways. How can you be connected and committed to the profession you so love in a more tangible and real way?  The relationship we have with coaching and what we get back, is what we put in.
 
What, in your heart do you desire from coaching and the ICF? Then ask, what are you giving that supports this possibility? Remember, the ICF is YOU! And 20,000 other people just like you, all over the world in more than 100 countries. And each one of us can be, as Ghandi said "the change in the world we wish to see."
